This package provides a calculator-based resource for developing children's understanding of decimals together with fluency in their use in the real world. The emphasis is on the interpretation of decimals, the use of a calculator and on such skills as estimation and choice of operation. (It is not concerned with practicing mechanical arithmetic). The first half of the book provides a description of common misconceptions that children exhibit, together with a number of detailed diagnostic tests. The second half provides a wealth of lesson ideas and worksheets, including calculator games, which may be used to help overcome these misconceptions. A full set of approximately 100 photocopy masters are available in a separate pack.
